Dermal Fillers
Wrinkles around your mouth and forehead, aging skin, sunken cheeks – these are all signs of aging skin. The aging process can cause your face to lose its vibrancy, and you may appear tired or angry, which may not reflect how you truly feel. Because we understand that a surgical procedure is not for everyone, we are proud to offer non-surgical options, like dermal fillers, to help you achieve a more youthful complexion and discover your best self.
When searching for a doctor, it is important to find a board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise in skin rejuvenation. Even though dermal fillers are non-invasive procedures, the injections can be dangerous if not administered correctly. With your personal health in mind, our experienced doctors administer the dermal fillers to provide the safest and most natural results for you.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Although dermal fillers can't help with excess sagging skin, these soft tissue fillers can add more volume to your face, lips, facial creases and wrinkles, as well as provide immediate results with no downtime. Dermal fillers have been called "liquid facelifts" because they offer many of the benefits of a facelift without the cost of a surgical procedure.
Some dermal fillers are used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments such as injections of Botox (botulinum toxin) and other fillers. In your consultation, your plastic surgeon will assess your needs and recommend one or a combination of treatments to achieve your desired results.
Types of Dermal Fillers
Our doctors offer various types of dermal fillers to provide the best options for you and your specific goals.
Restylane
Injected directly beneath the surface of the skin, this filler adds natural volume and lift, resulting in smoother wrinkles and less prominent folds. Results are immediately visible and typically last about six months.
Juvederm
Juvederm is a gel implant that includes hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that bolsters skin elasticity, which provides a smooth and supple appearance. It is biocompatible and supplements the body's natural hyaluronic acid, which usually depletes with age. Results may last nine to twelve months.
Radiesse
Radiesse is one of the longer-lasting injectable implants because of its components. It is used for soft tissue augmentation in the correction of deep facial folds and creases, as well as restoring volume loss in hollow facial areas.
What to Expect:
After the fillers have been administered, marks from the injections will be washed away and you will be given an ice pack to alleviate any minor and temporary discomfort. Because pressure can affect the movement of the dermal filler, use caution when applying make-up or touching your face so you do not move the filler during the first 24 to 48 hours.
Scars and deep lines often require multiple injections to achieve your desired results. If a deeper injection is required, you'll be offered a local anesthetic to remain comfortable.
Results
It's important to realize that dermal fillers are not permanent. The fillers can last from three months to over a year. Even the semi-permanent dermal fillers will eventually require more treatments. The way your face continues to age and how your body absorbs fillers will determine the timing of when to receive another treatment.
If you decide not to continue with dermal fillers, your appearance will return to its original condition with the return of wrinkles and scars with loss of volume in the lips.
